Epic fail today. Somehow, even after arriving twenty minutes
early for the train, I somehow managed to miss my ride to Cordoba even though I
was on the platform five minutes before it was due to leave….ARGH! Literally
had to watch it pull away and leave without me. Fumed the whole walk back to
Sylvia and Alex’s. All was not lost thankfully. After Alex suggested a trip to
Italica I headed out the door once again! Thank goodness.
Italica is an archeological complex just North of Sevilla –
ruins of an old Roman metropolis. (Sevilla is filled with them obviously.) This
bus thankfully leaves every half hour so I made it there in no time and was
able to thoroughly enjoy the site.
Was pretty awesome to explore and get a first hand look at
the old Amphitheatre.
As I was leaving Italica, there just happened to be a parade
starting! I have no idea what it was for but it was great to witness some rural
Andalusia culture and traditions still being upheld.
Cordoba slipped through my fingers somehow but I guess it
wasn’t meant to be. Ancient Roman ruins and a local folk parade though are not
too shabby of substitutes!
