FOOD PORN!
(This one is for you Jess!)
My picture taking has been a little on the low side BUT,
trying to make up for it hard. I have a bit of food porn to tide you over and
will for sure be capturing some more. These are mostly from the last couple of
days as well as from our adventures today. (We toured the Royal Palace today
but I am waiting to steal Alex’s photos since mine died at the start of the
tour. Side note – iPhone 5 camera really is fantastic. Better than my actual
camera I’d say!)
Infamous croissant at our usual breakfast place:
A few of their other platters:
They have the BEST fresh squeezed orange juice too - and cafe with leche:
Take out a la Sevilla. Amazing Italian pizza with fresh home made salad and had with fanta and crushed mint. Mmmmmhhhh:
The mint has been a new favorite. Alex made a cucumber and watermelon salad with fresh mint and a lemon honey sauce that made a perfect afternoon snack!
We went for Tapas after visiting the Palace and risked
having a sampler plate – chef’s choice. DELICIOUS!!! Ah super amazing and our
server was super lovely. If I can remember properly we had shrimp croquettas, goat cheese wheel with a honey ginger sauce, a mayo shrimp salad, a ginger teriyaki (?) fish fillet, calamari, crab and olive stuffed mushrooms, and what we think was a beet or cherry croquettas.
We went to clear our bill, and since we are so lovely,
he sent us off with a complimentary shot. (Good thing it was free however since
it was not enjoyable.
Gave us a warm send off since the clouds started rolling
in and I experienced a chill for the firs time in Sevilla.)
PART 2
I did not get around to posting this when I wrote it up since I was able to have an amazing lunch yesterday!! There is a restaurant across the river called Macuro that was started by an artist who chose to showcase his talent through food as well as through his studio next to the restaurant.
First dish, Musaka spanish style:
Potatoes in some sort of sauce:
Salmon corn salad:
Guacamole however served with fried plantain chips and fluffy potato fritters:
Curry! Oh one of the best dishes.
Fried green tomatoes (I know momma) with a fig marmalade...YUM!
There was a group of six girls so of course we had two desserts. First was a lemon meringue type pie but like nothing you've ever had before. The lemon was more of a cheesecake type texture which was amazing and the meringue was sky high (apparently impossible to do given the pressur ein Calgary).
Then finished off with a pecan pie.
I wanted to throw this in since I thought it was hilarious. This is Dogfather with a Sevillan twist. It was a little sketchy not gonna lie but had to be tried. Its just a plain old hot dog but with shredded carrots (hidden) under the unflavored hickory stick chips. Didn't ask, just ate it. Not bad I guess.
This was from a food truck at the concert we went to and was basically a fancy version on the hot dog. It was sliced ham though on a ciabatta bun but still had the sticks and such. So odd. But surprisingly enjoyable.
That should tied you over for a bit...I have definitely accumulated a ton of pictures now! We have another night of Territorios and was able to make it to the Cathedral so many more to come!
